ONT Inquiry Driven Learning Environments (IDLE's)

SUO WG Members,
The educational application area has not received a lot of attention.
Indeed, one of the last discussions that I can remember having of it
is this fragment of dialogue with Jim Schoening in September of 2000:

Because the potential bearing of artificial intelligence and computational media
on education has been a longstanding application area and research interest for
me and my whole family, but since even I regard it as a telos-scopic vision of
a future contingent venture to see new ways to learn, teach, and do research
altogether -- he drifts off -- I am going to start up a development thread
on the Ontology list, leading off with some old project work that I did
on the prospects of inquiry driven learning environments.

C. Application Areas
2. Educational applications in which students learn concepts
and relationships directly from, or expressed in terms of,
a common ontology. This will also enable a standard record
of learning to be kept.
