SUO: REF

¤~~~~~~~~~¤~~~~~~~~~¤~~~~~~~~~¤~~~~~~~~~¤~~~~~~~~~¤

Fred,

I hope that you will not mind too much if I go ahead and
post our exchanges so far on the topic of reflection, as
I have learned from past experience that it is generally
a bad idea to filter one's contributions through another
persona, no matter how well-meaning the referee might be.

Fred,

A few morning afterthoughts ...

Even though I cannot presently suggest a language
that would be especially tailored to this purpose --
as I far as I am concerned it could be anybody's
favorite language, just so long as the designers,
the maintainers, and the users of a language in
question allow it to have the ability to change
and to grow in critically reflective directions --
I do have quite a few definite ideas about the
kinds of conceptual frameworks that are needed
for catalyzing this form of language evolution.
As a matter of fact, the question of what kind of
setting is needed to give a place to reflection is
one of the main problems of my current dissertation
work, which I have been taking up under the rubric
of a "Reflective Interpretive Framework" (RIF).
I do not have this part of my current draft
loaded up online anywhere yet, but you can
view the present outlines of it at the end
of the fragment that is residing at Arisbe:

Hope this helps,

Jon Awbrey
