Exploring options for a new home in IEEE

Past SUO WG Members and Subscribers,

The SUO charter expired in January of this year, and traffic has ceased on this list, but I am guessing some of us may see value in keeping some form of the group alive.  Those who do not may unsubscribe at any time, so this message is for anyone who does.  Our charter was from the Computer Society Standards Activity Board, so to keep the group going we'll need a new home.

I reviewed the various groups in IEEE and a logical new home could be the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Data Engineering http://www.ipsi.fraunhofer.de/tcde/.  Some of their conference papers deal with semantics and ontologies.  I contacted its Chair, Paul Larson of Microsoft, who invited us to write a short explanation he can send to his Executive Committee.  Does anyone else have any other alternatives?  If we move, we'll have to redefine ourselves, adopt a new name, elect new leaders, and decide what we want to do.

 Thoughts, anyone?
