SUO: Re: SUO-STAT Program wants to work with SUO documents

Jim, John, Rich, et al.,

I have always emphasized the importance of real
applications as essential for developing technology
of any kind, and ontology is no exception.

The BIKE program might be a very useful example of
such an application, and I agree with John Bateman
that it could be an interesting test of the current
SUO tools and resources. But as Rich Cooper said,
we have ZERO information about it:

It is much more than "nice" to have information.
Without actual examples and data to work on, the
developers of the SUO projects have nothing to
test their tools and apply their resources.

I am very pleased to hear that Lisa Tran has joined
the SUO list. But I'd like to reiterate Rich's
request for some unclassified subset of the kind
of data that BIKE would need to represent.

I believe it would be enlightening for all of us
to see what each of the SUO projects would do with
such data. In fact, I would hope that a common
set of data might help promote further collaboration
among the projects and help us work toward a common
goal rather than behave as competitors.
