Re: SUO: Multi-Source Ontology (MSO) Ballot Question

Jim,

I vote YES on the following question:

 > "The IEEE P1600.1 Standard Upper Ontology Working Group

 > (MSO) of the WebKB-2 knowledge server (www.webkb.org)."

I believe that the MSO and the WebKB tools take an important
step toward supporting the goals of the SUO WG.

There is much more work to be done, but Philippe Martin
has done a lot of hard work on a project that many of us have
been talking about: evaluating, comparing, and organizing
multiple ontologies. More importantly, the tools enable
any of the links to be annotated with comments by various
collaborators and to be easily changed or revised as needed.
Furthermore, Philippe is ready and willing to extend the
MSO and the WebKB tools along the lines that the SUO WG
recommends.

MSO is an example of the kind of collaborative effort we
should promote, and we should take advantage of Philippe's
offer to provide his tools in support of the SUO efforts.
