Doug, Richard, Yang Zhanmin, SUO Group,
There are, of course, many divers ways to approach,
to define, to formalize, to model, and to quantify
the subject of information. If I had the luxuries
of space, time, and tokens that I would need to be
thoroughly systematic in my approach, I would most
likely pick another point of departure than at the
historical genesis of the subject, at any rate, at
the precursor with any genealogical resemblance to
the modern propositus of information as we know it,
and that, of course, is the "Theory Of Information"
that is found announced and developed in the works,
both early and late, of C.S. Peirce.
By way of a formal re*introduction, then, here are the links to the passages
that I excerpted from Peirce's initial and -- for all their developmental
and prescient character -- still his most thorough studies and lectures
on the Theory Of Information, and with especial bearing on our recent
discussions on the Extensions and Intensions of Concepts and Terms.
