Matthew,
I had meant to finish a first reading of the Procedure Draft --
and please hold back any more drafts until I can drain this! --
focusing largely on the various issues of syntax and clarity
that might affect the comprehension of the matters that have
been materialized there, before trying to tackle the heavier
weight issues that must inescapably be encountered by such a
guideline for collaborative conduct of this work. Curiously
enough, the "heavyweight" matters are accounted for in great
part by the topics that are absent, missing, or omitted from
the current draft.
That was the scheme. Now gang agley.
Recurring developments now compel me
to enter on one topic somewhat ahead
of schedule, and so I will introduce
it here and now, under the rubric of:
"Enabling Conditions Of Rational Discussion" (ECORD)
Under this head I believe that the Group is obliged by brutal exigency
to focus due measures of critical reflection on all of the enabling
conditions and all of the norms of conduct that common sense and
a consensus of the unequivocal kind would determine as the ones
that we will have govern our hopeful progress in the work that
we take on.
That said, no big rush, and that preamble will suffice
for the time being, during which time I will return to
sparring with more lightweight matters of procedure.
Jon Awbrey
