So, from 'Y is willing to die for his belief that P', we are to conclude 'P
is true'?

I should call it neither. I suppose that unsuccessful engineers and drivers
also 'make predictions about the future that they are willing to stake their
lives on' - in your sense. The crucial question is: what's the difference?
