SUO: Re: How to put this on a web site

o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o~~~~~~~~~o

John,

This will be the last time I discuss the style
rather than the content of my postings with you.

I have already given repeated explanations of why
I am doing things this way, one of which is to keep
from repeating myself in future about things that I
have already repeated numerous times before. I have
no reason to discuss it with a person such as you who
is incapable of listening to what I say or considering
the possibility that people who see things differently
than you, might just have an equally worthwhile point of
view on the potential of this present medium. The advice
that you give, unsolicited the first time, not to mention
unwelcome and harassing in its repetition, is not useful.
It does not address the task and does not serve the aims
that I am trying in all good faith and dutiful service
to accomplish here.

The means that I am using are suitable for online interactive
communication that leaves its record in a developing website
data structure. In case you haven't clued into it yet, I am
already putting these texts on a web site, the SUO Archive,
in a carefully interlinked from, and I'm doing it in such
a way that my dialogue partners can partcipate in the
growth and development of this reusable resource.
Thus, I am working in a way that emulates a Wiki,
to some degree, but with important differences,
that are necessitated by our need to keep
indelible documentary evidence archives
of the work that we do in this Group.

All of this is already patently obvious to many of my
online colleagues and most of my offlist correspondents
about the work that we are trying to accomplish here,
between answering heckles from those who cannot see,
on the usual account.

If there are those who wish to sit in some semi-attic web and
needlepoint web tapestries for stuffing in some cherry chest,
then fine, let them do that. I am trying to get some work
done here, and talking to you about your aesthetic prefs
in just not what I'm here for.

SPAM is a term with legal status.
Please observe that in future.
