Re: SUOPT :> Information 01. http://suo.ieee.org/email/msg11665.html

There's a whole bunch I could say about information,
and probably will, but for now I want to stick with
the roughly cut "hit the ground running" bits of it.

This is actually one of the very first topics that came to mind
when I started trying to think about how to address the problem
that I was seeing in our process, which is, by and by, not the
same thing at all as a procedure, which is, by and by, not the
same thing at all as a programme, which is, by and by, not the
same thing, I know, but enjoys an analogy of some uberty and
utility to a computational program, but all of that I have
my hopes of getting around to, in good time, by and by.

In the beginning, well, of this discussion, your Procedure Leader
and I came to an understanding, at least, I thought we did, that
a definition, and by this definition to say, by the by, by the
way of its etymology, a bound to our otherwise humane littoral
boundless wanderings, could be beachheaded in two ways, by way
of examples, or instances, as the case of adventitious cargo
on your beach may be, and by way of properties, or qualities,
or any one of a gadshillion other names that may have some
currency on your tribes' beach by the ocean's io-stream.

Let me call these two twinned and intertwined ways, respectfully,
the "extensional face" (EF) and the "intensional face" (IF) of
this our common horizon, our common telos, to wit, to define.

Oh yes, to be continued ...
