If you're looking at collaborative document authoring, you might
also consider a wiki, which is an co-editable, online HTML document.
They don't all have to be open to the public for editing, and can
be set up for a limited number of write-access users. Nothing really
substitutes for face-to-face meetings on a regular basis, but we
don't have that option unless some wealthy venture capitalist
decides to open a business on the big island of Hawaii and hire us
all (something reasonably affordable for the big billionaires, and
look what might happen?). I've been trying to will this to happen
with a bunch of my markup buddies for about the past six or seven
years, but so far no luck... I know that probably the top 20-30
developers and software architects I know of would do it if the
money was right (and we're not a greedy bunch, really).

A: One speaks fluent Arabic, the other Spanish.
