Thanks, Jim, this is very helpful. I think that it might
be time to begin a comparative and critical discussion of
the different models for achieving consensus that we use,
whether explicitly or implicitly. I have written papers
stating that democratic models and scientific models are
compatible, indeed, essential to each other, and I still
believe that, but there's obviously one or two catches
or wrinkles yet to be articulated about the nature of
the hoped for compatibiity and how to actualize it.
