I agree that the mappings between a 3D and a 4D ontology
would require more care than just assuming inheritance of
certain properties from a supertype.
As I have stated in several earlier notes (today and
many more in previous months and years), I believe that
something along the lines of Whitehead's process philosophy
may hold the key to developing a more robust ontology that
includes both the 3D and 4D versions as special cases.
But I also admit that the time and effort to analyze and
formalize all the details is nontrivial. Therefore,
I believe that the best approach is to accept both as
options until some better synthesis comes along.
