SUO: FW: ISO TC184/SC4 Open Technical Forum - 23 June 2003, Stuttgart, Germany

Dear Colleagues,

Below is an opportunity to promote what we are trying to do here
in the standards community I come from. I have offered to make
a presentation on the work of the SUO group. I would appreciate
some help with this.

Adam, Robert, OpenCyc folk,

Please could you let me have (say) 3 slides describing what you
are trying to contribute/achieve. The target audience are data
oriented rather that FOL oriented. I will add something of what
I am trying to achieve here.

John (Sowa)

use.

Germany

The subject of the Open Technical Forum in Seoul will be "Industrial requirements
and developments for dictionaries and reference libraries", as decided in San Diego.

This will provide an opportunity to share news of the latest developments in this
field, which represents a tremendous opportunity to exploit the SC4 standards to
support digital equivalents of many traditional ISO, IEC, national and regional
standards.

As well as PLIB, the lessons learned from the construction and maintenance of
reference data from the oil and gas industry are of relevance to all aspects of
exploiting reference data in our standards. The use of reference data as an
integral part of the PLCS data model is relevant to the broad acceptance of the
standard. I will also be trying to get some inputs from the work on multi-lingual
dictionaries from ISO TC37.

The hosts have already lined up some informative presentations on work at the
national level in Germany.

Please notify me if you wish to make a presentation, so that we can assemble a
suitable agenda.

The forum will be held on Monday evening from 17.30-19.30.

Thank you

Howard Mason
SC4 Chairman
