SUO: Re: Industry takeover

Adam,

We all agree on the importance of mapping ontologies,
we all agree that you can't use an SUO without mapping,
and we all agree that mapping is necessary for developing
an ontology.

All I'm asking is that the three groups make an honest
effort to cooperate. If some parts do not prove to be
appropriate for standardization, then they don't have
to go into the standard. But we don't have to make
that decision until the final draft.

The point of the joint proposal is that all three
groups cooperate. I would be happy to revise it
to say that whatever goes into the final draft of a
proposed IEEE standard will be just those parts

 1. which prove their value during the collaboration

 2. and which the entire SUO committee votes to
    include in the standard.
