SUO: A plea for ASCII

Hi folks. I respectfully request that everyone configure their mailers
to use plain ASCII for posting to this mailing list. Some of us prefer
ASCII based mail readers that can't render smart quotes and the like,
and which may also not preserve certain formatting that might be
relevant to the content of a post. Sticking with ASCII ensures
readability and uniformity of appearance across all platforms -- very
appropriate for a standards group! I would recommend also that a
nonproportional font like Courier be used for composing and reading
plain text messages, as that insures uniform spacing for all characters.
This is especially useful if one is writing KIF sentences, where
indentation and alignment are important for readability.
