Yes Chris, I understand your annoyance, but:
1) It has some purpose: I names the intended participants.
2) It *can* be used to for retrieval on such a matter:
I downloaded the whole SUO archive, and to figure out who is
interested in what and hold which opinion I just grep the
full name of the persons to get a list of all messages where
they were involved. If your policy were strictly followed I would
miss a good part of the replies in such discussions.
For myself I just have "duplicates" sub-folder where redundant
responses go, and sometimes, sorting out some discussions by
subjects or by author, I do *appreciate* to have a readyly
available duplicate to feed both the main thread and the
author/subject subfolder.
So, even little details like that are debatable. ;-)
