SUO: RE: Just wondering...
Jean-Luc,
Yes, we are quite aware of the signal to noise ratio on this list.
But, this is a volunteer-based group. We can only do as much 'real' work as
members decide to do.
We have the IFF starter document that needs real comments. The SUMO
document is an expert contribution that is also seeking real input. We will
very soon have the OpenCyc document proposed as a starter document.
There's plenty of opportunity for real work to commence. It's the
responsibility of document editors/champions to call for input and resolve
comments. Members have some level of responsibility to submit comments and
participate in resolution.
Also, we need to keep most of the administrative traffic on this
list, since to move it would take most members out of the loop.
At times the noise gets gets a little high and we do try to limit
it, but to keep an open forum, we need to put up with some amount of noise.

Subject: SUO: Just wondering...
Hi all,
I subscribed to this list very recently, and, tough there is
some substantial message traffic, I am puzzled because most of
it is either arcane administra-trivia or spaced-out questioning
from some weird people that don't seem too well connected to
the subject matter (at least 3 of them I would not name but you
might recognize...)
Is there any place where the *real* subject matter is discussed,
I mean theoretical an practical considerations related to ontology
building?
You may respond privately if you prefer.
Best.
