hi,
IMHO there are 4 problems related to quantity and quality in this lists
1.) too much off topic
2.) too much repeating
3.) some people use MUCH more words than needed for their topic
4.) some people sent mail to the list which is better suited for
personal discussion (outside the list)
therefore i think setting up multiple mailinglists would not help much.
i am afraid that especially the "spammers" would cross post.
therefore i think setting up a system as john sowa suggested would be
best, however it might be much work to implement it.
the other solution would be to strictly moderate the lists, however this
might lead to conflicts when mail is beeing filtered, although i think
if there are clear "filter criteria" this might work.
so i dont have a simple solution either, however i feel one of the two
solutions should be tried.
