Re: SUO: Ontology Based Student Projects
How about, at last, getting someone or a small
group to work on the automatic generation of
natural language descriptions of the contents
of a SUMO- or suitably selected equivalent
ontology?... this has been mentioned as possible
and useful on this list a few times, it
is emminently feasible with currently available
technologies, but would require a serious
effort quite appropriate for an extended student
project.
Description could be in English to start with--for
example one of the restricted Englishes suggested,
but technologies and resources exist also for
attempts at multilingual generation
(cf.
http://www.fb10.uni-bremen.de/anglistik/langpro/kpml/genbank/generation-bank.html).
This would be of great use for moving away from the rather
English-biased discussion that is evident at
present.
I'm happy to help with this one if anyone bites or needs
further info.
