SUO: Ontology Based Student Projects
Hello everybody,
It is the time of year that we offer project topics to our final-year
students. These projects take 7 months, and our students put a great deal of
effort into them.
This time I would like to expose some of our students to the theories,
technologies and tools of ontological engineering. Ideally, I would like to
give the students as much experience of 'real-world' problems as possible.
Thus, if you have a semantic-web-related problem/task - be it strictly
programming/implementation-oriented, the development of a domain-specific
ontology, using any currently available tools, or perhaps testing &
evaluation - you may consider setting this as a project for some of my
students. I may be able to partition a larger topic amongst several
students, who will then work as a team (I have done that very successfully
in the past with CGs-based projects).
There are now 200+ finalists (straight computer science, computing &
business management, computing & info management, etc.) choosing project
topics (to start formally in October). Also, some 100 M.Sc. students will
start their 5-month, full-time projects in May. Some of these may continue
with the topics started by the finalists.
If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to ask.
Best,
Pavel
