Dear Chris,

Well there is no doubt that Shell companies consider themselves
"part" of the Shell Group. There is even quite a complicated
definition of what it is to be a member of the Shell Group based
on share ownership.

You are right that subsidiaries are whole organisations in themselves
(but so are pumps whole things as well as being part of a plant).
Being "part" of a larger company is I suggest usually based on whether
your accounts are consolidated into the "parent" company or not.
