Adam,
In reading this earlier note of yours again, it hits
me that this problem of having a token of some type
fall into one category, like Physical Thing, while
the type itself falls into another category, like
Abstract Form, must be a rather general phenomenon,
somewhat larger than this special circumstance that
involves just Signs.
I am guessing that, if I have explained this right,
that there may be two or three people out there who
have already observed this, and who may be able to
shed a bit of light on the more general situation.
